There is a unique tradition in Beirut to invite guests into the sitting room called diwaniya.
Usually, it’s purpose-built in most villas as a source of information sharing. Thus, it was an important task to design this space to make it cozy and hospitable.
We decided to divide the spacious monotonous room into zones: we added geometric shapes into the vertical and horizontal surfaces and made the ceiling multilevel. Also, we placed a kitchen area into the room, an island of solid pieces of marble, and supplemented it with a huge block of storage space.
We placed marble tables throughout the diwaniya and made the marble base of the lamps to create an architectural ensemble with the island. Against the background of geometric walls and noble marble, we placed furniture of luxury brands such as Baxter and Poliform to acquire a special charm by elegant textures.
